To get paid from the Tyson Foods and Cargill settlement:
Claimant must complete a claim form with purchase estimates (pounds purchased monthly and amount spent per month). No receipts or documentation required at time of submission, though the Settlement Administrator may request additional information or documentation to support the claim.
Tyson Foods and Cargill settlement payments are proportional — each eligible claimant receives a pro-rata share of the net settlement fund based on the estimated amount of qualifying beef they purchased during the class period. No fixed per-person amount has been announced. Payments will be distributed after the settlements receive final court approval and any appeals are resolved. Claimants can choose to receive their payment via PayPal, Venmo, Amazon, Starbucks, Instacart, or a mailed physical check.
Filed as an antitrust class action in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota (Case No. 0:22-md-3031), this lawsuit alleges that several major beef processors — including JBS, Cargill, National Beef, and Tyson Foods — entered into a market allocation agreement and stopped competing against each other for market share. Plaintiffs claim the purpose and effect of that arrangement was to inflate profit margins and drive up the prices that ordinary consumers paid for beef at grocery stores during the period from August 2014 through December 2019.
Tyson Foods and Cargill have agreed to pay a combined $87.5 million to resolve the claims against them — $55 million from Tyson and $32.5 million from Cargill. Both companies also agreed to certain non-monetary relief. Neither company has admitted wrongdoing, and the court has not ruled that any defendant acted unlawfully. JBS and National Beef have not settled and remain defendants in the ongoing litigation.
Judge John R. Tunheim is overseeing the case. A fairness hearing is scheduled for May 26, 2026, at which the court will decide whether to grant final approval to the settlements. For more details, visit the official settlement website.
