Background of the Lawsuit

On April 6, 2021, Taylor Lemons filed a class action lawsuit against Walgreen Pharmacy Services Midwest, LLC, Walgreen Pharmacy Services Eastern, LLC, and Walgreen Pharmacy Services Western, LLC in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. Lemons alleged that Walgreens violated Oregon wage and hour laws by failing to provide final paychecks to terminated employees within the required timeframe and by allegedly violating overtime, meal break, and wage-deduction statutes under ORS Chapters 652 and 653. For more information, visit the official settlement website.

The court certified a class consisting of all Walgreens employees who were terminated between April 6, 2018 and April 6, 2021, who did not abandon their jobs, and who received their final paychecks six or more days after termination. Walgreens denied all allegations and maintained that it complied with all applicable laws. The parties reached a settlement to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation without any admission of liability by Walgreens.

The court granted preliminary approval of the $2.5 million settlement on February 9, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for August 4, 2026.
