A plaintiff filed a lawsuit against Galderma Laboratories, L.P. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Case No. 1:24-cv-02222. The lawsuit alleged that Galderma misled consumers about possible benzene contamination in three Differin acne products: Differin Daily Deep Cleanser (5% BPO), Differin Acne Spot Treatment (10% BPO), and Differin Maximum Strength Acne Foaming Cleanser (10% BPO).
Galderma denies all of the allegations. The company maintains that its product labeling and advertising were not misleading and that its products were not contaminated with benzene. The court has not made any finding of wrongdoing or liability.
Rather than continue litigating, the parties agreed to a $990,000 settlement to resolve the dispute. The settlement does not mean Galderma admitted to any wrongdoing. For more information, visit the official settlement website.
