Settlement Payout

Estimated Payout Per Person

Class members can receive full reimbursement for past repair costs (like evaporator flushing or filter replacement) incurred before May 31, 2024. For repairs after that date, you can get up to $100 for charcoal filter replacement.

Settlement Fund Breakdown

This settlement operates on a reimbursement basis rather than a fixed fund. Toyota will pay valid claims for:

  • Past Repairs: 100% reimbursement for reasonable out-of-pocket costs incurred on or before May 31, 2024.
  • Future Repairs: Up to $100 for charcoal filter replacements incurred after May 31, 2024.
  • Legal Fees: Toyota will pay up to $4.1 million in attorneys’ fees separately.

Background of the Lawsuit

Plaintiffs claimed that 2012-2015 Toyota Camry vehicles had a defect in their heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. They alleged this defect caused moisture to build up, leading to mold growth and foul odors inside the car. Toyota denies these claims but agreed to settle to avoid trial costs.
