No claim form required. Settlement Class Members automatically receive payment by mail if they do not exclude themselves and the Court approves the settlement.
Ecoshield settlement payments are approximately $1,225 per eligible class member. Each Settlement Class Member who does not exclude themselves receives an equal share of the class fund. Payments are classified as non-wage damages and will be reported on a 1099 form. Checks will be mailed after the Court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. The Final Approval Hearing is set for July 24, 2026, so payments are not expected before late 2026 at the earliest. Checks expire 180 days after issuance, so cash yours promptly once it arrives.
Former Ecoshield employee Dylon Dykstra filed a class action lawsuit in King County Superior Court against The Shield Co Management, LLC, doing business as Ecoshield Management Co, LLC. The case, Dykstra v. The Shield Co Management, LLC, Case No. 24-2-05701-3 KNT, claims the company required employees to sign noncompetition covenants in violation of Washington state law, specifically RCW 49.62.070. Under that statute, employers cannot enforce noncompete agreements against workers earning less than twice the state’s minimum hourly wage.
The lawsuit covers current and former Washington employees who earned below that wage threshold between March 14, 2021, and March 10, 2026. Ecoshield denies any wrongdoing and the Court has not ruled on the merits of either side’s arguments.
Rather than continue litigating, both sides agreed to a $924,000 settlement fund. The Court granted preliminary approval on March 10, 2026, and a Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for July 24, 2026, before Judge Nikole Hecklinger. For more information, visit the official settlement website.
