Background of the Lawsuit

The State Attorneys General and consumer plaintiffs allege that Google unlawfully monopolized the market for Android app distribution and in-app payment processing. Specifically, the lawsuit claims Google used anticompetitive contracts and technological barriers to prevent other app stores from competing, allowing Google to charge inflated fees (up to 30%) to consumers for apps and in-app purchases. Google denies these allegations.
