Settlement Payout

Estimated Payout Per Person

Settlement Class Members may receive reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket costs for purchasing a replacement crankset and installing it on their bicycle. This benefit applies if the Designated Crankset was replaced because it separated, delaminated, or exhibited evidence of delamination. Additionally, Shimano will automatically extend the Express Warranty for bonding separation and delamination until July 29, 2027.

Background of the Lawsuit

Plaintiffs alleged breaches of warranties and sought relief regarding the advertising and marketing of Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets and the alleged inadequacy of a voluntary recall initiated in September 2023. Plaintiffs claimed the cranksets were prone to bonding separation and delamination. Defendants deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and cost of litigation.
